EMC/Dell refile with MOFCOM

23 August 2016 - 12:00 am UTC

23 August 2016 – Dell and EMC (NYSE:EMC) refiled with the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) late last week, a person familiar with the matter said. The companies remain optimistic they will secure clearance from the antitrust regulator in the near future, he added.

The Texas-based technology giant announced plans in October 2015 to acquire the IT infrastructure and virtualization company for USD 67bn.

MOFCOM initiated a review of the transaction in February and the three phrases of the 180-day statutory review period ended last week. This forced Dell and EMC to refile to give MOFCOM additional time to examine the transaction. The companies declined to comment.
